check throttle position sensor. sensor should read 0% with no depression on the pedal, try holding the pedal at say 25 or 50% so the computer gets a reading from the sensor. use a graphing scan tool, if the scantool still reads 0% with the key on and the pedal down then replace the TPS :U:

STOP POSTING INFORMATION THAT DOES NOT HELP.
THERE IS NO THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR ON A 6.0 DIESEL. THERE IS AN ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. |
New to Diesel bombers;
:humm: Hey "Big Angry Hillbilly", being a 'stroker tech, maybe you can help me. My '04 6.0 just started this "thing". After a cold start, the truck surged up, what I mean is, the throttle acted like I had pedled the throttle. It went from the norm 600/700rpm to 1100/1200 rpm, held for a few, then dropped back down. Done it a couple of times. Today, did it again, only this time, did it at a stop light about a mile from home, surged up, stuttered then died. Started right back up, ran OK for next couple of miles & back home. I live in N. Ca, weather is HOT!!! Could this be the ICP ?? Codes from Superchips tuner are: P0403; EGR circ. error, (had ERG unplugged) P0405; EGR sens. A circ low P1000; Monitor checks not complete P2285; Injector ctrl pressure sens. circ. low P0603; Internal ctrl mod kam error :baby: Thanks |
Is the ICP in the valve cover or under the turbo?
Sounds like an ICP issue to me at first glance - moreso if it's under the turbo. |
Would that be the ICP on the passenger side valve cover, with 1 black and 1 green plug in it ?
|
Nope that's the glow plug control module. Those plugs, are they facing the firewall or the right side fender?
|
facing the passenger side fender
|
Your ICP is underneath the turbocharger.

I have found the son of a B....!! What a joke this thing is. I wonder why, if it's been moved for the later model engine, why is there no way to retrofit to a new and better location on earlier engines?? Seems the heat from the turbo is mostly the cause of the ICP going bad, so why can't it be relocated to some where else? I would think that would be an after market "kit" that surely would sell..:ouch::rocking: Again, thank you for your help. Buddy "dieseldad" |
