Looks like there are a couple on Craigs List.

You will most likely have them flashed to your year truck.

$400 - $500

FICM will need to be programmed to YOUR vehicle using the data from the existing FICM. The glow plug controller does not need to be programmed. FICM's are on backorder right now.

If you want to bring your own FICM, do the repairing tech a favor and let him install it, or you will likely get billed twice for the labour, because if you install it, he has to take it off to inhale the module data from your existing module, to program your new one with it.

FWIW, I have seen glow plug modules trigger FICM codes. Perhaps replace the glow plug controller FIRST, then see if the FICM codes return, if that's what they are basing the FICM replacement diagnosis on.

What are the truck's symptoms?

You can find some FICMs on EBAY, not exactly dirt cheap as they are getting popular for modding. You could try calling around to either Power Hungry Performance in GA or Innovative Diesel in MD to see the cost on getting the FICM programmed.

You can swap the FICM yourself and save the bucks if you are outside warranty coverage. Need additional tips just ask, I swapped mine out with no issues.

What kind of modding is being done to the fick'ems? Are guys playing with them by themselves or are a few shops putting pre-tunes onto them?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

05 f-350 KR 6.0
Truck has new f.f. with in the last week.
For the last few weeks in cold weather or cold starts the truck will crank and crank and crank and wont start. Then where it starts in runs for a sec or two and then dies. I do that a few times then the truck will start and run like norm.. but will smoke "white" at idle and a lot under power....after a few min a driving and the truck gets warmer no more smoke.

Y is the truck dieing like this?
Y goes it seen like there is no fuel and it just crank and crank?

Thanks for the help.......

I was told on another site it may be the FICM= Fuel Injection Control Module????????

Could be a FICM issue. Do the injectors 'rattle' key on engine off?

Default Check your ficm

If you have the ability to use fords ids system run a check on the fic
firmware the was recently a tsb out if the engine starts in Cold weather it will feel like a misfire for a moment then completely even out, there is a possibility you need to have a new ficm installed and flashed to your vehicle.
