Default 2003 6.0l help

Hi all thank you in advance. I have an 03 f350 6.0L and recently it has started to run rough when warm at idle and and while driving. Then a couple days ago stopped to fuel up after driving 100 or so miles and it would not start. Waited 15-20 minutes and after a long crank time fired. At this time I did notice the icp would only go up to 475. Drove home and replaced fuel filters and now it started to surge or want to leap forward while at a stop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds typical of:
1. Leak in the high pressure oil system (not as common for '03 model years as the late '04 and up model years)
2. Stuck open IPR valve
3. Weak HPOP
4. Bad ICP sensor
5. Inadequate base oil flow and pressure (typically from aftermarket oil filter caps with OEM filters)

If you change parts out, then you should stick with OEM ICP's and IPR's - from a KNOWN source for true OEM parts (not counterfeits)

If you get a new HPOP, you should only go with an upgraded HPOP from EITHER CNCFab or Dieselsite.

Pull your ICP valve. Check the screen. If there is a tear in the screen, sediment has plugged the plunger and not allowing you the minimum 500psi required for start up. I purchased an off brand oil cooler and learned the hard way. I had to pull the intake apart, flush the engine, replace the oil cooler. The aftermarket oil cooler gasket disintegrated and was clogging up my IPC valve so I had to remove the oil cooler, then flushed the engine with oil and replaced the ICP. I wonder what is causing your low ICP psi? It could be the same situation as mine. It could also be the HPOP not producing enough pressure. Di You want Ford OEM parts. The gasket for the oil cooler is blue, not green, purple or any other color. Make sure it's a Ford OEM part! DieselTechRon has plenty of videos on this topic via Youtube. If you do replace the HPOP, also replace the branch tube. I need to find out where to get a good branch tube. I plan on replacing my injectors and HPOP come spring.

Just a comment ........

It is the J-tube that needs to be replaced when working on the HPOP or HPOP issues. This J-tube connects the HPOP to the branch tubes.
Changing branch tube "pretty much" requires the heads to be removed, and RARELY does anyone have a branch tube issue.
