they arent old enough to have 380000 miles on them, give it a few years, i have had no problems with my 2004 6.0, faulty wiring harness, but that was a glitch. even with all of my mods to my truck, i have had no problems.

Default Why 6.0?

I own a 03 F350 6.0 dually. I bought it with 45000 miles on it in 05. I now have 135000 on it but they have very expensive miles. My truck spent from last thanksgiving until 1 Feb 09 at a Ford Dealer because they could not figure out what the problem was. In the end I had a new fuel pump, wire harness, fuel filters, pair of new batteries, and 2 new injectors. Total $4000 spent...Update for the last 2 months it has been leaking coolant at the rate of a gallon every week at $16 for G5 coolant. Oh and last week I had to have a new alternator installed.

Dude if you want a Powerstroke!! Get an older 7.3 You can run the wheels off of them. A buddy bought a 99 7.3 about the same time i did and all he has replaced is oil, fuel, and washer fluid, maybe a set of washer blades. He bought his with 145000 on it and he is now well over 200k.

I would say to buy a 6.0 only if you like spending money and fixing stuff

I have heard that the powerstroke does not get anywhere close to 20mpg. The few i have talk to say they are lucky to get 17 or 18 outta theres.

My 6.0 has been runnin great with the new motor. Bought it in december with 86k on it. A week or two after i got it the egr cooler went out. Still under warrenty so i took it, they did a HG check and they were weak. When they tore into it they found that the previous owner had overhated the dog **** out of it and the motor was trash. Couldnt tell, it ran bad *** and had a clean oasis. I have 97k now with no other problems, most of it on a hot tune. BTW its awsome to get a brand new motor for only 100 bucks. Any way, after having owned both my CR Cummins and this 6.0. I know i sound crazy, but id go 6.0 again in a heart beat. With just the little bit i have done to this truck so far, it feels almost as powerful as my CR. I know I wont be able to make huge power with it, but itll still be damn quick.

BTW just waitin on the heads to lift so i can try and get studs in under warrenty.

Can someone please tell me how to run the Oasis check? I have owned both the 03 F250 with the 7.3L banks etc. and the 04 6.0L with subsequent edge etc. I had nothing but problems with the 04 6.0L. I had two turbos replaced and numerous other parts replaced chasing the problem (which was mentioned previously. They don't know what the scope of the problem is many times) The final fix was to replace the turbo the second time and reflash the computer in which is absolutely killed the power (I guess they reduced the fuel pressure or ?) but I had such a bad turbo lag and no power that I finally got the edge system. It helped a lot but wasn't perfect. Truck got stolen so I bought the 03 with the 7.3L. Man what a great engine that is. I would have kept it but I need a 4x4 now. So I sold it and bought the 06 Dodge 3500. Great motor, great running. Terrible on the comfort and really lacking in any creator comforts. I filled it up twice and only got 15mpg. Sold it in two weeks of owning it and have purchased an 07 F350 4x4. Wow, I got to say this is nice. The motor is strong and smooth. Big improvement over the 04. I am going to look into a EGR delete kit and the SCT for it. Can anyone give me advice on that. You can PM me so as not to steal this thread. Thanks

There is a key word there 04redstroker, you said "it feels almost as powerful as my CR".
