Early 03 Turbo 9 VANE!

Okay, for a long time now i keep seeing posts on what years have what turbos. Just putting up a picture of my Early 03 9 vane turbo that i just resurfaced and assembled with a graphite anti-seize.

Yes the 03 and early 04 have the 9vane, the late 04 and up have the 7 vane, the early ones sound much better. also your photo shows the exhaust side, do you have pics of the intake side, that is where the 9 vanes are.

You are wrong in so many ways. 9 vane is the least amount of vanes. 05 and up have 13 'correct me if I'm wrong' the EXHAUST side is THE only place there are vanes.... Those 9 weird looking fins, those are the vanes.

LOL....people use the turbine wheel to determine the count not the VGT vanes. The turbines changed as well as the vanes. If you count the turbine it' a 10 bladed 2003.

I have an early 04 and I need to do a lot of soundproofing. The 9 vane is really obnoxious inside the cab. Especially when your trying to relax on your way to or from work

I have 03 and I like the whistle. . Figure it's a truck and I enjoy the rumble too! . I have just muffler and get a lot of complements on the sound! ;-)

Yea they definitely aren't cab friendly turbos for the highway. Cant beat the sound of a 9 vane though. Solid turbos as long as you keep them clean too.
