Default 2006 Ford F350 Duelly Stock diesel

Hey guys, I have been cruising this forum as a guest for a few days new searching for information and man can you find info on just about anything here

So I have a general idea on this truck form everything that I have read but I wanted to ask your guys opinions before I jump in..

So to explain my company has a 2006 ford f350 diesel Duelly with 150000 miles and it's completely stock, well as of a few days ago it was put to rest in the yard and my boss has allowed me to try to revive it for me to use. Now this truck was used as a heavy duty work truck, most likely exceeding it's towing capacity sometimes and used for transporting crews into the field also. Now it most likely was never properly maintained or serviced besides what was required to keep it rolling even if it was doing it badly.

The symptoms are multiple, the 4x4 won't engage unless put in lock position on hubs and the vents work 100% the transmission feels like it slips sometimes or it's just loosing power and kicking back in, it has a rough start for about 10 minutes in the cold weather but starts just fine even when it is warm, she has bad batteries I am sure this will solve some things but I wanted to know where to look, now the final blow was that one day the temp just maxed out the gauge and the coolant was bone dry, now I was told a hose blew off before then, which one I do not know, but I suspect it had something to do with it, but I also suspect the oil isn't doing any good and the erg valve needs cleaned...

As I said this thing hasn't really had any loving, but I feel like it would have some great potential and last me a long time with the proper care especially since it is a free truck that still cranks and rolls.. She's a fighter..

The purpose of this post is not to ask for solutions to the problems but where to look and what to not get distracted by, I intend to keep a record of this complete journey here from start to finish.

BTW my name is Bert.

Oh my Bert. You may not be askin for solutions but she needs help! New Hpop will help staring probs. Oil cooler. Egr delete. Might suggest new thermostat. Intake. Stock is quite restricted. But DO NOT go with k&n. It's trash. Add Revx every oil change. Throw in studs. This shud help. Hpop is main thing. Although expensive, will solve much unneeded headaches down the road
