HELP!!!!! TRUCK RUNNING EXTREMELY HOT
Hello gents, well i got a 2003 F250 6.0 i recently had the T-Stat changed in it due to the coolant getting a little to hot. This past weekend i was towing in Grand Junction colorado outside temp was about 100 degrees my trucks temps were getting to about 250 oil and 240-245
coolant. When i left monday morning to tow back temps were about 70 outside and truck ran about 194-200 coolant and 210-215 oil temps. I have no idea what the issue is also im back in the springs and cruising down the road coolant is 192-210 and oil 215 in about 90 degrees outside and if i get on it or its really hot outside they get to 240-coolant and 250
oil not cooling. Also running juice with attitude CTS and recently had the oil cooler done less then 3 months ago. If anyone can help me out that would be great. Thanks

yeah see there is no fan clutch on it and im running a fan from a 7.3 so could that be the main issue is not having a fan clutch? Also it never got that hot until i got the thermostat replaced after that the coolant has been getting hotter then i have ever seen it
Why fan from 7.3? Is it filling the shroud? According to ford over 70 gallons flow through the system a minute. Did you get sealant on the t stat and prevent it from opening all the way?
it was on there when i traded for the truck. And dam that much really? I aint to familiar with the cooling system i re did the engine and all kinds of other work to it. Not that i know of it was all clean and yesterday it was low on coolant so i had to add quite a bit but dont know where its all going and there is no puddle or white smoke out my stacks.
Very possible that you got a bad thermostat, I can't ever remember hearing my fan come on fully, and I have hauled some heavy stuff in 100deg plus days. NO cluch?? I know if the fan wires get messed up it can make it run like crap because it messes up the sensor circuit.
A bad thermostat from the shop? Yeah i figured it should be ok towing a trailer but was wrong
and yeah no clutch never had a fan clutch on it and i haven't put one on it and ive had it for awhile, good idea to put one on?

I have seen bad sensors and thermostats enough to double check if you have problem after new install. And yes that much! I would think a stock fan with clutch would be better in long run seeing how critical cooling is on newer diesels!
I'm thinking you need to make sure the fan fills the shroud correctly too. Under normal driving, you may not notice but high heat and towing and other strains will need every detail to prevent problems.
