so i posted at the end of summer about an issue. i was climbing some steep hills with a mild load and at about 1500-1700 rpms, i would hear this clanging noise coming from the drivers side engine compartment, like right at the front tire area, and the truck would stutter or miss. it sounded like a man hole cover hitting the pavement. if i let off then stabbed it, sometimes it would fix the issue and it would run fine, other times i had to stop and let the rpms come down to idle then start up and keep it below the 1500 to 1700 range. no other issue shes.

when i got home i took it to the shop they hooked it to the scanner and said it was the boost cntroller on the turbo. sounded right to me. hadnt had any issues, hadnt towed with it since then. in the last couple of months i put the coolant filter on and a innovative 3015-1d programmer. was running great! yesterday i have the boat on and am heading over the hills to go fishing, same issue. starts clanging and cutting out under load once i go up a hill. since summer i have changed all the filters, ford issue, changed oil, added the rev ex, and thought the truck was running fine.

no engine light on but the programmer logged a p0231, po603, p2287. i also have an insight monitor and it logged the 603 and a p1000. i put it back to stock and took it to the same shop, they only were able to recall a p0603 code, the others were gone.

so, anyone ever had this issue? the truck runs grreat on flat ground, idles fine, i did notice with the controller when it first starts the idle jumps right after it catches then goes to normal, once i put the computer to stock no more jump in idle.

shop wants me to hook up the boat and their scannere and take it for a ride in the hills and see if we can duplicate the issue, but that is not until next week.

what do i look for?
