ATTN Need advice hpop/ford/having it replaced

I have a question about a 2004 F350 SuperDuty 4WD 6.0 Lariat. I was coming home Friday and got up to about 70mph, and I hit the cruise control. And noticed I was losing speed. Looked back down thought I didn't press the button or something. But I had complete failure. The power was on but lost everything else. Steering, brakes, etc. So I got it onto the offramp and sat there for a second. I turned the key into the off position, then turned it back on. It tried to crank but wouldn't turn over. There are 2 new batteries in it. I pressed the little button over by the drivers side door where your feet go. I was told it was some sort of reset thing, it wasn't popped up, but I pressed it anyway. That didn't fix the problem . So, we had it pulled into the Ford dealership and they said it was the High pressure fuel pump...I'm ASSUMING he meant the high pressure oil pump. Said parts and labor should be around 1800+tax. We've only had this truck since October and have done a ton of stuff to it. Replaced some turbo thinggy, 4wd hub, bearings, etc. In total without this most recent problem we've spent about $6k in repairs. My question is when they put the computer or whatever they do to figure out what's wrong, on the truck, this is a definite right? I mean, they're not going to come back and say oh it wasn't that it was "this", are they?

I just recently replaced my hpop, icp sensor, and regulator it cost me 1243 from the dealership. I was having the same power loss and no start issue as you. On the scanner they can read the oil pressure that your truck puts out when trying to crank if yours was like mine then it wont show any oil pressure.

I wonder why they're charging me so much just for the HPOP then :/ Does stuff like that vary state to state? We're in Mississippi right now, but I'm wondering if I should call another Ford dealership to see if I'm getting screwed.

If you are close to the coast, there is a good mechanic in Gautier, MS. Specializes in Ford Diesel, "Gulf Coast Diesel".

No, I am in Meridian. It's fixed now. Cost $2175 (after car rental, taxes, parts, core refund, etc.) :/ And just in case something like this happens again...I have matches.

Hopefully this will be all the repairs for a while...hopefully
