Default turbo whistle

my turbo is whistling
thought the top turbo hose had a hole in it
i installed new hose and the whistle is still there

thinking about up grading the turbo to a larger one

the truck is basically stock

What is the noise??

i was looking on innovative diesal web site

looked at the one for 1400

siad faster spool up over stock

Looking for a little more performance and gas milage

thanks

the turbo is toast: if you have a leak anywhere before or after a turbo, it side loads the bearings and wears them out.

There will be a difference. I wouldn't spend $1400, you can put a new cartridge in it for less if you aren't afraid of taking apart and cleaning the variable vane system. It's pretty easy and it's a good way to save $500

For a stock truck and stock turbo works just fine. I say rebuild and be happy. Save the bucks for other mods.

go with a twin turbo upgrade for 3500$

just kidding you could but yeah it sounds like your barrings might be shot careful that ur head gaskets are wearing or almost blown my barrings started to go right before that happened cause your turbo is working harder burns them out. also if u need a turbo go to a junk yard like a pull apart grab a stock one save a couple hundred dollars. just a suggestion.
