Default STC fitting,IRP, EGR Delete has been replaced still acts like a no start sometimes.

Hello diesel gods. i have a 2005 ford f250. i had the STC fitting changed also replaced the IRP. also had the EGR deleted. the problem im having is when the truck is cold and first start. it does fine. when i drive it around and its warm then i let it sit for about an hour it just spins over like a no start. but if i turn the key on and off a few times each time trying to start it. it finally starts. but it only does it some times. its doent show any codes. could my fuel pump be going bad or my ICP acting up? please help.

Did you happen to change the dummy plugs and standpipes too? they have Orings that are known to fail and can cause a Hot No Start too, the new ones have a teflon backer on thm to prevent failures, it is a very common problem along with the STC fitting that you already took care of. The standpipe and dummy plug kit is about $102 from tousley ford.

like bobf said, hot no start is almost always a failed dummy plug oring on the oil rail. you can verify this by pressure testing the high press oil sys. if it checks ok then you can check fuel pressure to verify your fuel pump is working correctly. Ive also seen problems where whoever installed the stc update ddnt tighten the hpop bolts back down, they were finger tight at best but, the truck did not have exact same symptoms you are having.

he said he change the stc fitting, irp,and the dummy plugs but nothing about the stand pipe orings. would that make it not start sometimes? can i do the pressure testing on the HPOP oil system and the fuel pressure?

an easy thing to do is to unplug the ICP sensor and see if the symptoms go away, bad ICPs can do funny things. when ICP is unplugged the computer uses a default reading for ICP pressure/2000psi/ so it will run

so just run it with the icp unplugged for like a week to see if it acts up or not. cause it dont always do it.

You can, if you plan on doing some towing then plug it back in, it is ok if you are cruising and driving normal but when you really jump on it may not run right even though I have read where peope have left it unplugged for a very long time I personally wouldn't do it.

ok if i unplug the icp and nothing changes whats next? should i pull the dummy plugs and the stand pipe? oh and how much pressure to use on the air test?

air check the high side system first, 90 or so psi will work
