Default 2006 F250 Crew Cab

My buddy just traded his 02 on an 06 crew cab f250. When he told me he wanted a newer pstroke, I was hoping he would get at least an 06. Is there anything I should have him watch out for?

He had to have me update his BDTD before it would work with the 6.0, but we got her working. The main thing he was looking for was smoke. That thing will pretty much smoke until you let off the throttle. It still wasn't enough to take the Cummins though.
What do you guys think?

I would love to get him on here, but he has the attention span of a 2 year old. He bought it last Friday. Are the 06's decent?

they're pretty good -- but can still have HG problems if you start pushing more than stock boost thru them, and make sure to keep the egr clean, or just delete it

they got lots of the bugs worked out of the 05-07 6.0's -- but if driven hard and modded, they can still have HG problems.. just depends on what he wants to do, but basically, there are a few minor problems, plus its likely still under warranty, taht can be taken care of relatively easily should they arrise

Just what I needed. I will let him know about the HG. I was wondering about the EGR on the 06's, how hard is that to block off? Thanks for the info.

Default '06

Get me his vin number. The '06 model is still new enough to not have seen to many issues yet. But it is the same as the '05 so head gaskets and hpop oil system leaks are still gonna be a potential problem. I reccomend to get studs put in. Some dealers will do it under warrenty if you supply the studs. As for the egr block off, you can put a freeze plug in the egr cooler branch off the up pipe, weld the egr valve shut and get a good tune that turns the egr off.

I'll think he is coming down to the area this weekend, so I'll have to take a few clicks. It is pretty sharp.
