Default 2004 F-350 turbodiesel talk me into it or out of it:

Hello everyone,

I currenlty have an 02 Silverado. The prevoius owner replaced the injectors at 200Kmiles, I did the fuel injectionpump @ 230K. I like my truck except the color, however my transmission is going out. For me to have mine rebuilt, it's gonna set me back 4K. I"m considering trading my truck in on a 2004 F 350 crew cab turbdiesel 6.0L with 150K miles on it. I have been reading all of the horror stories and am torn on selling my truck and installing a new transmission or trading her in on a beautiful F350 6.0 Liter. If I had not hear of all of the issues with the 6.0, there would be no discussion here. But, I have heard a lot of stories:

So talk me into buying this 2004 6.0 liter or talk me out of it please!

when looking at the truck one of the most important things to do is get an Oasis report on it, it will tell you alot. The best thing to do is show up to see the truck unannounced on a nice cold day and hear the truck start when it is stone cold, it should start quickly and purr like a kitten, if it idles rough or puffs alot of blue smoke then the FICM might need repairing or an injector is on it's way out. If the truck has a coolant filter installed the that is a definate plus. The Transmissions in these trucks can take allot more power then the Allison can stock, they are very stout. Take the truck for a ride, you will fall in love with it.

Also the up side is if the transmission cost 4k. you can do all the upgrades for a lot less then that to the 6.0. They are great trucks and run great. when you drive it you will under stand why we love our super dutys so much and even the 6.0 with all the problem they say they have. All the problem they have depend on how they were taking care of maintenance wise.
