The cheapest way is piecing it together, it's really not that bad.

What exactly are you looking to do?

I would do, headgaskets (OEM only!) ARP studs, new OEM oil cooler rebuild, coolant flush, new coolant, get a top end gasket kit (I picked up a Victor Reinz kit on ebay for like $80, has all the o-rings and crap you need), update the turbo drain and feed, the high pressure fittings etc... it's really not that bad. Also find a good machine shop locally that does 6.0 heads specifically too.

about how much should all that cost just as far as the parts? i found a kit with everything in it minus the oil cooler for $1k. that seemed pretty cheap from what else i have i seen on them.

You have a link to the kit? Most of those "kits" have black onyx headgaskets which are complete crap. Prices vary. The machine work will probably run $500 or so to have the heads fixed up. Headgaskets are like $135 per side, new oil cooler rebuild is like $275, that victor reinz top end gasket set I got was like $80. You'll need exhaust manifold gaskets, those are about $15 a side I believe. Coolant, oil, filters... plus ARP studs are a bout $425.

Head Gasket Install Complete Kit, Ford 6.0L

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

ive also got another question while we are here. i was on my way to one of our farms this mornin and hit a huge puddle of water in the road and about 3 miles down the road my water in fuel light came on???? But i hit the puddle on the right hand side of the truck. Ive heard of them sensors gettin clogged up, do you think it might be that or maybe some water did get in somehow?

I seriously doubt any water got in... probably just coincidence, or the truck bouncing around is loosening up junk in the HFCM.

Try draining it?

That's a good kid from Bulletproof, they know their 6.0's. I'm sure if you wanted to piece everything together individually you could save a few bucks, but sometimes it's just easier to get it all from one place.
