no low range

04 ford f250 4x4 the 4x4 works but when i put it in low range the indicator light doesnt come on and i dont notice any gear reduction over the high range 4x4 any thoughts or ideas to why this would be?

Truck needs to be in neutral and foot on the brake pedal. You didn't mention your procedure in your OP.

Exactly what HA said. Put it in 4x4 like normal, come to a stop, put it in neutral, click over to 4x4 low, then back to drive, it should go in. Taking it out you must follow the same procedure.

ok i got it figured out i needed to be stepping on the brake not just being in nuetral thanks

Yep...it's not uncommon for either the neutral or brake part to be skipped.
