Default 06 front axel install?

Is it ok to push the axel the rest of the way in with the hub bolts. I had to axel in most of the way the knuckle seal I think was all the way to the little step in the back of the hub. I thought the axel was already started to mesh inside the diff. Is there any special prep. used on the knuckle seal before install. How does that thing work. does it spin within it self when the hub is locked.

Thanks Jeff

You may have folded the seal over on itself. I have had my shafts out a couple of times and they always seated fine when I pushed them in. Make sure the axle housing is clean (mud/grit/corrosion) would be about the only prep. Some grease around the outside of the rubber seals couldn't hurt either.

Yea I got in a hurry to finish and had read somewhere that the hub would seat it without looking at it good enough. I knocked it on the shaft but didn't drive it in the knuckle all the way so it must be up against the hub to tight. I put greese on both sides that was the first time I ever did ball joints everything came apart no problem good thing cause I think my elect. impact was giving it all she had.

Thanks Karl
