buddys new truck
The chances of blowing head gaskets on a stock tuned truck are pretty slim. I'm not saying impossible, but VERY unlikely. If you plan on tuning it, then yes you'll probably want the studs, but if it stays stock I think you're wasting your time and money personally.
I think he's going to put gauges in first "trans temp, egt, boost" egr delete, coolant filter, engine oil cooler, and change all fluids. After that he's going with 4" turbo back strait pipe and a k+n drop in air filter. Thanks for all the info guys!
His truck seems to run real good, it fires right up and dose not smoke. Hopefully he got a good truck, we looked at enought. Its just sad that you spend 20,000$ on a truck and your not sure if it going to cost you more to fix it.
As for gauges... I'd be going with fuel pressure, EOT and ECT, EGT is a good one, but if he's not tuning it it's not really necessary either. Trans temp is a waste if he's not towing super heavy all the time, my trans basically runs 80-90* above outside temp, no matter what, even towing my 21' bumper puller camper with tuning on...
