Powerservice vs. Howes vs. other diesel treatment
It's approaching winter and I want some opinions on diesel treatment. Where I live in Wyoming we can (on occasion) get down to -40 F and I already run synthetic oil. What I want to know what diesel treatment is the best? I have heard that powerservice (white bottle) can be hard on 6.0l's. I have also heard that Howe's is one of the best but I want your opinion. Also along the same lines I had a mechanic tell me that a couple ounces per tank of 2 cycle oil is good to keep the injectors lubed good! Thanks fellas!

Everyone ready for some science? I use opti-lube XPD (sometimes use the winter formular too) year round.
Here's why:

Howe's barely does anything for lubrication, and stanadyne is the same, unless you get the lubricity formula specifically, but that does nothing for cold weather. Opti-lube FTW!!!

I've been buying it online forever. I know there are some places that sell it locally. I believe they had a dealer locator on their website actually. Not a lot of local dealers it looks like, but worth checking: Opti-Lube Diesel Fuel Improver | Grease | Oil Fortifier
Looks like diesel power mag did a test at some point too: Fuel Additive Test - Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel - Diesel Power Magazine

I took a 20 oz. soda bottle and drew a line 15 oz. up. I run 15 oz. of howes and 5 oz. of ashless 2 stroke outboard oil when I fill the tank. During the summer I run the RevX distance+ every other tank and that **** makes a difference haha. I know howes isnt the best for lubricity in the top-end but its always been good from anti-gelling, and the two stroke oil is pretty good for lubricity. You could hear how quiet the motor got after switching from the diesel-kleen on cold starts

They did 2-stroke oil in that comparison test... you can see the results for yourself.
I've never once had my fuel gel up on me, BUT I have had it freeze.
The biggest thing when running anti-gel stuff. The fuel seems to freeze no matter what, if it's in there or not, but if you ARE using it, it will thaw back out, where if you're not running it seems to stay in a gel form.
