Default Ford updates

About a year ago i took my truck into ford for a couple "updates". I was told it could help my truck. Well i took it in and they did 4 updates? Since then my mileage has go down and i thought it was the exhaust or the zoodad mod. Does anyone know what these updates are? What they could have done to mess with mileage? Truck runs good and has good power but just tryin to learn as much as i can!!

Thanks
Aaron

By the way I have an 04 f350 6.0L with 150k on it. I have 5 in straight pipe exhaust and the zoodad mod.

Most likely they changed the ECU strategy or another program. This is very common for the dealership to do this. While they have the technology to change the program, they will NOT revert back to your better running program. Places like Power Hungry Performance, here on Diesel Bombers, can help you to do a 'roll back' to a previous program.

I changed the fuel and air filters a year ago. Probably put on 10k since then. What is a good rule of thumb for changing these filters? I will check tire pressure too. And about the updates, I will look into changing it back. If I put a programmer in it will it change the program? or overwrite what they did? If i do that srl program is there anything i need to change or upgrade to better suit the program or make it safer?
Thanks again guys for the responses!!!

It would help to know what updates were done, this should be on the paperwork they gave you...

Karls probably right, probably a newer flash with worse mileage, welcome to 6.0 ownership! Give Bill @ PHP a call, he can get you a strategy roll back and get your mileage back.

As for your other questions, use only FORD or INTERNATIONAL fuel filters, they say 15k miles. I end doing mine more like 7k-10k, or twice a year. Oil filters, only use Ford/Motorcraft or Fram (yes I know, but they're actually good for 6.0's) and good quality oil.
