Default 6.0, 6.4 or 6.7

so i currently have a 06 6.0 and i want to put bigger injectors egr delete bigger turbo bullet proof kit lift tires.........but my wife brought up the idea of paying it off after a couple trips to the desert and then trading it in on a newer f250. ive been doing some research on all both the newer f250s and i cant really seem to find a page listing what the major problems they have had

so im reaching out for some opinions. i like my 06 but the 6.0 arnt the best motors.

I still am a fan of the 6.0. Let me start with that. The amount of info available to fix, repower, or retool that engine is insane. We all know what the problems are, and at this point, we all know where to go to get the info we need. These are just my opinions.

6.4 is a good motor. It will however bleed you dry with its MPG. I know I know, no one here really cares about MPG. That being said, the 6.4 is in the 10-12 area. If you can live with that and also realize that it is a two year bridge motor.......
6.7 is a great motor. No predictable issues (like the 6.0 had/has). Everyone I know that has one, loves it. The power alone will make you fall in love. Stock is like a 6.0 with a programmer. If you have the coin, go for it.

If you plan on modding the truck up, you can get more power out of a 6.4 with just a tuner than you can with a 6.0 with all of the mods you just listed.

For luxury, go with the 6.7 if you can afford it, but it wont be a big powerhouse (just depends what you want for power). Around 500 rwhp is probably the limit. Unless you go crazy. High teens/low 20's for mileage, even stock. Nicest looking of the 3.

6.4 would be the power truck, 600rwhp easy with tuning/dpf delete, and you can get around 20mpg with the deletes.

6.0... hard to beat having a truck that doesn't have payments. Like Wade said, we know the issues, you can fix them, they're nice trucks. I weighed all my options because I was in the same boat as you about a year ago... I'm keeping my 6.0 and fixing this up and I'll mod it slowly over time. A 6.4 CC/SB would be my next truck though.

Well if you go with a 6.7 dont forget to carry your bottle of urea around with you unless you throw a nice tuner on to delete it.

My bud has a 6.4, the mpg is pretty decent, but it isn't tuned up, either. That being said, if the swelling on my bum ever goes down from that huge load o money I spent on my 03, I have to say that a 6.4 with a tuner /DPF delete looks mighty tempting. I'm keeping my 03 just because it's PAID OFF!

My 6.4 hasn't given me any grief. (Knock on qood) Had it for about a year and a half. Averaging 13.5 to 15. All factory.

I'm with you! If you want big power though, 6.7 is not the answer. Windowing blocks are pretty low HP. The 6.0 has a stronger bottom end by far.

Do you carry around bottles of oil to do the oil changes all the time?

Working on it but I only drive it every other weekend when i'm home from work.

Hopefully getting it a couple miles up the road to Innovative Diesel by next summer.

Moving out is number one priority though.
