Default No Power When Accelerating/Diablo Predator Showing Code P2290

Yo guys! New to the diesel mechanical stuff... looking for help... Here are the details on the truck... 2003 F-350 Powerstroke V8 6.0, SD, Crewcab, 4X4, Shortbox, 5" Silverline Exhaust From Turbo Back, Air Raid Cold Air Intake, Remanufactured Turbo Replaced By Ford About 1.5-2 years ago, New EGR and Recently Cleaned EGR, New Fuel Filters. I use the truck as an every day driver and also haul a 18' landscape trailer with lawn equipment 2-3 week. Dont think I am missing anything else...? I have been having some problems with the truck no matter the temperature outside hot/warm/cold when first starting after a decent not running period, the truck would run rough and weak engine power until the engine was up to normal operating temp. I had read on here about some REV-X additive for the oil which I placed in about 2 weeks ago. Seemed to help quite I bit with the rough running problem at first start up. I now have a current problem of having little to no power when accelerating. My code scanner is showing code "P2290" in which I have learned is ICP Too Low. In reading several forums on this code, most say start by checking the ICP Sensor which I am in the process of doing before having to come into work. I have not actually located the sensor but I have the FICM off and ready to start looking. I did notice while under the truck today, minimal amount of oil dripping from what I belive may be the HPOP but also read that when the ICP sensor goes bad, they sometimes leak oil as well. I am hoping to god it is not the HPOP, however with my luck, it will be. Guess my question is, am I on the right track, and after finding the ICP Sensor and replacing it, nothing changes, what shall I be checking next?

Make sure you also replace the 3 wire connector when replacing the sensor!

Well after a long day of searching, I took a beer break, 20 mins later walked out and found the damn thing right away. Will have new sensor in the AM. Any idea what the part # might be for the connector?

LOL, yes, replace the sensor and the pig tail for it, quite common for the oil to leak down on it and cause issues.

ICP pig tail Ford P/N: 5C3Z-12224-A

NEED HELP STILL!!!! I am far beyond stumped on this truck! So far I have replaced ICP, ICP pig tail connector & MAP sensor, FICM is at 48.5 Volts, truck will start, idle, yet no power when accelerating. Hooked up to scanner/computer, monitored turbo boost with VGT @ 85% and RPM held at 1200 @ operating temp. For my MGP pressure, I cannot get anything over a 1 0r 2. Any ideas what else may be causing me to have no power/boost? No codes thrown either....

Can you monitor ICP actual against ICP desired, and IPR duty cycle at the same time? (know someone with a good scanner?). I can't help but wonder if the high pressure oil pump is dying. Seems the 03 trucks have this issue and just get weaker and weaker until they die, where as the 05+ trucks just die suddenly. Starting to see this pattern.

Are you getting any sort of smoke when you get on the throttle and there is no power?

Might want to yank the EPB tube and sensor too and clean those.

Also double check that the MAP line is hooked up on the intake manifold on the passenger side. It's a small vacuum line, maybe 1/2" in diameter.

UPDATE: I had a Snap On Solus scanner on the truck and monitored everything. ICP, IPR, VGT, MGP, MAP... all that jazz is good. This thing has me stumped. No smoke at all, no power whatsoever, falls flat on its face. Finally decided enough is enough.. drove it to the dealer today at 10MPH down US-12.. some pissed off people behind me! I will let you know what I find out from FORD.

What did you find out about your problem? I've got the same problem with same year model truck. I've changed and checked everything possible with no luck...I'm thinking about trading this heap in!

I ended up breaking down and taking it to Ford for them to tell me it is in fact the HPOP. Ford wanted $3,000 to fix it, I told them to kiss my *** I would tackle it myself. In the process of putting new pump in as we speak. A lot of swearing, beer and neighbors asking me to turn the music down late at night... slowly but surely getting there. If it doesnt run after new pump, its going bye bye.

The ICP/IPR testing should have easily pointed this out. You say it was "good" but what were the values? ICP actual needs to be measured against ICP desired to see what is really going on. It should fix your issues though.

What have you "checked"? Tell us what it's doing and what you've actually checked and we can point you in the right direction. Every vehicle on the road will have issues at some point, the truck can't diagnose itself though, so I'm not sure how that makes it a heap. This is a 5 minute job to check to see if the high pressure oil pump is putting out the pressure needed...
