sorry, it was the 4x4 solenoid that was replaced, not the abs (had abs on the brain I guess...)

There has to be some faulty wiring harness' on this thing.

The P2199 should be an easy fix. There is two intake air temp sensors, and one of them is faulty, throwing the code. Maybe this will point to a defective harness even??? Let the truck sit overnight, go out and turn the key to the on position (truck off). Monitor the sensors with AE, they should be really close to ambient temperature, if one is way off, you found which one is bad.

The P2614 and the P2617... both of these codes are typically thrown when the truck is cranked a ton and not started, but they're thrown falsely. I've seen these codes both before and even seen random start/run issues with these trucks in rare cases where the crank sensor tone ring is cracked. So it's still attached to the crank but keeps missing once in a while and will shut down FICM SYNC.

The PCM is obviously seeing weak batteries, but it sounds like the truck IS actually draining your batteries as you go here? These trucks run TERRIBLE with weak batteries, so honestly the stalling is almost not suprising. If you are able to drive it at all, I would keep a watchful on on FICM SYNC as you're driving.

What is ICP actual and ICP desired as you're driving and when it's dying? Capturing this data as it's dying out on you may be crucial to finding what is wrong here. Is it smoking a bunch as this is happening? Does the truck have to sit a while and cool off a bit before it starts again? I still can't help but wonder if there is a high pressure oil leak somewhere yet, albeit a very small one.

Here's a really good read that I think would benefit you some: http://www.fordtechservice.dealercon...FICM_Guide.pdf It's basically the FICM operations and how it fires injectors and how it gets info to fire injectors. I think if you read through this and get a good understanding of what the sensors are doing it will at least help in having a better idea of where to look when it starts acting up and what symptoms lead to others etc. Read through it and let me know what you think. I've read it a dozen times and I feel like I learn something new every time I read it again.
This is a good brain teaser for sure...
Thanks man, really appreciate it. So can weak batteries cause the truck to just stall and die mid-run??

FICM sync has been normal while driving, no smoke while idling or driving.

ICP actual & desired are w/i 5 of eachother at all times - initially (before the injectors & pump) it would have to sit and cool off a bit (20 mins) and then it took about 20 minutes of boosting before it would restart. THIS time it restarted in about 5 minutes and I drove it straight home.

I'll check the intake air sensors this afternoon.

The PCM shuts off when the batteries fall below 9V's, as I've learned. So yes, it very well could be. FICM SYNC should just be a YES or NO, and basically that's telling you it's getting all the appropriate sensor inputs.

What does ICP go to when you go wide open?

The more we talk about it, the more it sounds like something is just draining your batteries down like crazy (or the alternator isn't charging) and it's causing the truck to die. You've replaced nearly everything.

Huh....you know, the whole battery thing has been lurking there for months. The first time the truck died I replaced the alternator & had the batteries tested - then the hpop system needed to be addressed. I just had a feeling all along that I was dealing with 2 issues that overlapped...when it cut out on Sat it just seemed so sudden, no feeling of 'what is going on' beforehand.

Definitely going to get my hands on some good CAT batteries.

FICM sync is yes, and once in a while it goes red and shows '1' on AE. ???

I wouldn't go changing the batteries too quick, there's only like 2 or 3 battery manufacturers in all of the USA, so most of the batteries are the same and just re-labled.

I would however be suspect of that alternator... I've seen it a few times where guys replace it and it ends up being a bad one right off the shelf again.

Your story reminded me of a buddy Mike's issues, read here and let me know what you think:

Alternator or.......? - PowerStrokeArmy

it does sound similar - I'm going to check the alternator out in a few days (busy with work).

I checked the air intake sensors, #2 is def off - by about 14 degrees.

I can get batteries for nothing, so it's an easy way to see if the current ones are weak

Will keep you posted!

Thanks again....

Let us know how you make out. I'm terrible with electrical crap... wish I could help more.

do you think it could be a failed/failing ficm or pcm? that's what some of the guys on powerstroke.org were suggesting - it doesn't seem like it to me w/ the ficm voltage being steady and sync being good and all....thoughts??

and by the way, mdub, you've been extremely helpful, it's really appreciated!

PCM could be a possibility. With all the FICM's I've had my hands on and everything I've learned about them... anything is possible, but I will say I agree with your assessment. I don't see the FICM as being the issue here. It would have no bearing on some of the other things you're seeing.
