Default Thinkin' About An Excursion

Well After a year or so of trying to get a CR dodge She finally agreed to trade her 04 expedition for an 04 excursion. All I have heard is the horror stories about the 6.0 so help me out here guys is this an ok deal?

Probly all it would get is an intake and exhaust.

from what i've read the 03 and 04 years were the worst. i would get a dealer service history before you bought it and see what all has been done. make sure it has any available upgrades from ford and international.

I really wanted to get a 7.3 but she wants what she has now in an excursion and I cant dind all of it in a 7.3, All together are they good cars? On the autotrader site it says it has 9 things on the carfax but I cant see paying to see what they are if I dont end up even getting it.

well, my dad owns an 05 f350 with around 35K miles on it. he's had 0 problems so far. knock on wood. they're no different then the pick ups really. a friend of mine has been looking at used super duty's and they've all had at least 80K on them with very little issues, most of which were all interior related.

it seems from what i've read that the 6.0's biggest issues were head gaskets and injectors IIRC, most of the HG failures seemed to be on the trucks that towed or were modified.

i really encourage you to get the carfax or maybe someone here can run an OASIS for you on it. you don't want a buy back or something that has a ton of warranty claims.

it says it has a four speed...doesn't that mean a 7.3? the 6.0 all came with the 5r110 Torqueshift didn't they?

IIRC 03 was that last year of the 7.3L. you can't believe what a dealer puts in an auto trader ad anyway. it's probably a 5 spd auto because they said it has a 4 speed with overdrive. that's 5. just like ours are 3 speed autos with overdrive and are called 4 spd autos.....

Thats what I figured. Arent the 5 speed auto's Ford has supposed to be pretty good? I know a guy around here has a 12 second 6.0 that has the stock tranny still.
