Diesel new guy exhaust question
I just bought a 93 f350 with a stock 7.3 IDI. i would like to cut out the muffler and just replace it with a piece of pipe to fill the gap essentially straight piping it with stock size pipe but i have read that i need to have a muffler due to backpressure? Can i do this or is there a certain size pipe that should be run? If i do this will it burn my valves? Will it help with mileage and power? Any info would be greatly appreciated being as im totally new to the diesel scene.

thats what i had on my truck for awhile. worked perfectly fine. i just took a piece of 3.5" pipe, cut inch or so lines at the ends and pipe clamped it to the stock exhaust. works like a charm but makes it 5-7 decibels louder, which is pretty noticeable. also note, i'd use some sort of exhaust puddy between the pipes when you install it or 99% of the time it will have some sort of leak and you will smell it in the cab if you let your truck warm up
