94 IDI Turbo
Thinking about buying 94 IDI turbo f350 auto with 173,000 miles
i would like know the good and bad about 7.3idi turbo before buying. Also would this truck pull 17,000 lbs 5th wheel
What kind boost does idi put out from factor and what the max can you push thru it and how hard is to turn up
Thanks for any info

umm, not the ideal setup for towing that much weight. these are known as the "factory trubo" engines, which alot of people tend to stay away from. dont get me wrong they run well, but do have their problems here and there (usually the turbo).
you can turn them up just like the earlier 7.3IDI's. theres a cover on the pump that you need to remove and manually crank the engine over until you see a srew come around into view. 1/8th turns only. but be careful, IDI's heat up quick when you do that.
in my opinion get a 7.3 "powerstroke" from 94.5-03.5. youll like it for towing much better

Well i have the exact same truck and i love it. it is not fast but it was also not made to be. i cant help you when it comes to the pulling power cause i have never pulled anything really heavy with mine. if you know anything about a powerstroke then just know that it is nothing compared to a powerstroke.

Well i did buy the truck and pull my 5th wheel that 16,500lbs home with it about 300 miles it did ok top speed was 65 mph but hoping after i open up the exhaust put gauges in and do something with air intake
I know is mess up on this truck factor down pipe but rest of the exhaust is even worst PO mickey mouse it in goes down to 2'' pipe then they put duel tail pipes and there down to 1 1/2'' pipe so guest got little work to do with it

You won't ever be able to hang with a cummins,Stroke,or Maxipad on the highway but you will get there. They ain't a rocket by no means. They are big dumb ox's that pull.No computer(Unless E4POS tranny).Simple as simple can be.Cheap to work on but don't expect to turn any 15 second quarter mile times or pulll any grades at highway speeds. Also,Make sure you use DCA to prevent Cavitation. The number one killer of all 7.3L IDIs.Now enjoy the fact that you can replace all your injectors for what the electronic guys pay for just one of yours.
