Default im stumped

alright fellas i have some questions,
i have a 94 f350 crew cab dually with the 7.3 idi motor, when i bought this truck 3 weeks ago for all i could tell it was stock it had a great deal of power (in comparison we use a '02 '04 '06 powerstrokes for our service calls at work, had better throttle response, and more off the line power than any of the three) the exhaust was the factory 3in, the intake was the factory big a@# 500lb chunk of stuff that cover the in-tire top of the engine and the mileage was at 212k
i was surprised that it had the power that it did, the weekend after i bought the truck i changed the oil, oil filter, air\water serp. and put a oem replacement air filter in it, then hooked it to my camper, with another pop up behind that, went across the scale at a little over 12k and drove 300 miles south of here ave out of 4 tanks of fuel round trip about 10mpg, (this thing has got to have the smallest tanks i have ever seen in a pick up) since then i have add a custom down pipe, 5in exhaust, and a custom 3 1/2in air intake with spectra hrp cone filter,
now that don't seem like it should do all that much to me however i am finding it harder and harder to keep this thing under 70 on the hwy and earlier today i took the camper down and drained the tanks and found that if i get into it at a stop light with the camper on it wont go anywhere it just kinda sits there and makes alot of smoke (white from the tires, black from the exhaust ) which is fun as all get out while its happening but im planing on boosting the turbo up a little and maybe the pump depending on what the gauges read when i get them installed, i guess what my question is, is it normal for these trucks to put out so much power with so little done to them, or would it be reasonable to think that the boost and pump have already been tweaked i will say that the cleanest part of the in-tire engine compartment is the pump i think it has been replaced real recently it looks brand new
when the rest of the engine compartment appears to have been taken care of but still well used, also what brand was the factory turbo on these trucks,
thanks guys in advance

The factory turbo is a Garrett. I just bought a new one for my truck and I am wondering how much of a pain it is to change. Also, will I have to make any adjustments with it on there? Should there be any performance gain to expect?

I don't think it would be that bad to replace the turbo on your truck compaired to the newer ford powerstrokes. And you might see a small improvement in the performance of the motor.

yeah i had 94 7.3 idi ... needed turbo .... and pump and inj...... turbo was on pass side atop the valve cover....... yours might be the same....... looked really easy to get in and out... the down pipe is the main restriction on these motors.... if u look up from the ground you will notice the down pipe is flat and oval ........ need at lease a 3" down pipe here.... then when there's room open to a 4".... i have dynomax 4"...... runs awesome... and a really good open air filter.... will get rave reviews... mpg will sipke up with new intake and exhaust too due to improved efficency ..... motor is just an air pump .... the better air can flow in and out the more mpg you'll get

Great. When I get a new/reman. ip, do they generally come set to intended pressure (i guess you would say) or, would I need to take it to someone to have everything set?

timing people, timing. the pumps NEED to be set to 8.5-9.5 Degrees BTDC.. those complaining about power, we did a test with my 94. between 8* btdc and 9 degrees, i gained 10 hp. now when we bumped timing from 9 to 10* btdc i lost 20 hp. TIMING IS IMPORTANT!
