First I will answer your question's the best I can. First I haven't checked the O ring's or the fuel filter. I will get in to it in a minute.
I'm going to run through the what hapened.
The first time I asked my question I started out with a cold start issue. Still got it. LOL.
When the truck sit's over night. Which I can under stand a cold start. IN cooler tempatures. It's sumer, just starting to have over night low's. When I plug it in for an hour it start's right up.
For week's I could not start it. Even thow I pluged it in. It was sugested that it may be the injectors. Not out of the relm of posability. I have only had the truck for three years. It is likly that the preveous owner may have changed them. But if you do the math because it has 372866 km. That number is coming up again.
I thought maybe my block heater was not working. So I was going to change it. When chasing the power feed. I found it had burnt through in two places. Didn't change heater , changed cord.

Pluged it in and Bamb. She fired right up.

That little bit of heat and no problem. Starts white, very breef. Then dark, very breef. Twenty seconds if that. Then I can start it all day with ease.

Any one know if the block heater only heat's oil or does it heat fuel as well. As long as it will start it runs great. Egsaust burn's clean after the first 15-20 seconds. No loss of power or nothing.

At least I can use it for work. My only worry is when the cold tempatures come I will probably have to plug it in throw out the day.

Thank's for all the info every body.

By the way. I bought a Denzo high speed starter. That is awsome.

your block heater heats the coolant, helping keep the block warm there fore when you start the truck the oil heats up quicker. Im know the block heater heats the fuel in a cummins in ford I have no clue doesnt seem to do it in our 6.0 powerjoke. that SOB gels all the time in the winter.

block heater just does coolant.

take a test lamp, hook the aligator clip to battery +. now unhook the wire going to each glow plug and put the needle end of the test lamp on where u just unpluged. if the lamp does light up, the plug is good. if it doesnt light, plug is bad. i had 3 plugs out on mine and it was cranky to start even with new injecotrs and a pupe timed to factory settings.

if your plugs are shot, ONLY INSTALL MOTORCRAFT OR BUER PLUGS!

From what I KNOW IT'S A GEAR REDUCTION STARTER. REALY ALL IT DOES IS TURNS THE ENGINE OVER TWICE AS FAST AS NOMALY WOULD. YOU WILL SEE A BIG DIFERANCE THE FIRST TIME YOU TURN IT OVER. IM NOT SURE IF THEY MAKE THEM FOR IDI'S.

Fuel heater o rings are the common cause. Available at the IH dealer.

almost sounds like bad tack pick up as well i have seen this phenomon before too.......
i had that happen on a 6.9 truck was going down the road hit a bump and bang..... dead
took me a litte while but finally realized it was the damn sensor........
some times the fuel sep. bowl on the bottom will suck air in over night and make it hell to start because the injectors and pump loose thier fuel prime....... these idi's are injected and when the fuel pressure over comes the spring in the injector then it will inject fuel...... air is real hard to inject if fuel prime is lost

Hi my desil freind's. I think we finaly figered it out. The reason it would not stat properly was the wiring in the seal that goes under the valve cover's. I was only geting power to two of the glow plug's. Wich also explain's why it would start if it was pluged in. Thank's for all the help.
