WTF.. My IDI is doing worse stuff
Hey guys!
I got another problem with my IDI. I just replaced a worn out injector on my ´89 7.3L IDI non turbo, cause it smoked blueish while driving. Further on I removed the old tranny oil pan gasket and changed the ATF. As I was going to crank the engine up to shift through all gears I recognized the IDI won´t start any more.
I got white smoke out of the exhaust while cranking... So fuel supply works fine.
Then, after long time of cranking it started spontaniously, rev up to 3000 RPM and dies like it doesn´t get enough fuel. It makes me scared.
That all sounds like the IP governor wouldn´t work correctly and I got a runaway engine. But I´ve done nothing to the IP or timing gear. I just opened the IP cover once to let the air out of the transfer pump while cranking..( I guess as I turned the torque converter by hand to find the drain plug, the IP sucked air)
I searched a lot on other threads to find an answer to this problem, but i can´t find anything. The injector code letter (B) doesn´t fit to the others, but this can´t be the problem right?!
Did someone of you guys have had such a problem before? What do you think can I do to make the IDI runing again.. ?
With best regards,
Martis
