black smoke and soot
hello i'm new here been reading you post for a little while and wow what great resource. i recently got a 93 f350 7.3 idi turbo and it has a lot of black smoke on acc. I installed a boost meter and adjusted the boost so i get about 8 to 10 psi but it still smokin. the guy i bought it from said they had turned up the ip. my question is should i try and turn the pump down and is there anyway of setting it back or close to the factory setting so i get it turned up only one or two flats. thanks for any info
turn it down a little following the directions at the top of this forum. click on the post named cn we make this a stickey. i posted up some good pics in there. just turn the screw the other way.
but first, have u checked air cleaner?

You cant really run these trucks lean, but you dont want to be running extra fuel without a pyrometer. If you just run around empty you should be ok, but I wouldn't put a load on the truck until you turn the fuel down or get a pyro. The EGT can climb really quick if you aren't careful. My IP is only up 3 flats and I have to watch my pyro like a hawk when I hook to my flatbed.
