best thing i did was removed the factory lift pump and installed a holley red pump. a big block chevy blockoff plate works for sealing the block back off. no more need to crank to prime the system.

and as long as your return lines are good, air should not be an issue.

Ic. Well I already bought a new lift pump maybe it would be worth it to take it back then. I do have an injector (#4) that is leaking around the "hat" from just under the steel line. Do you think the orings or steel line would be the issue. If you rember the last thread I posted about it losing power and wouldn't rev up. Could this be the problem. Ive been driving it bout 20 miles a day one way haven't had an issue yet kinda strange. Well thanks again for the info.

yea, thats the return lines leaking letting air into the system. return lines can be had online for 30 bucks or so for everything. lines, clamps, orings, and new caps.

Ok thanks. It does already have the upgraded return kit on it but it was there when I bought it. Was kinda hoping I could get away with just orings. Thanks again

Ok I just found a complete kit for 23 so guess ill go that route thanks. On the lift pump when you changed it to the holley does the steel line hook up to it or do you have to change it?

well, at the motor, bupass the factory lift pump, thats should be self explainitory. to install the holley, find your feed fuel line under the truck. probly will be plastic. install the pump inline with the supply line. mount it on the driverisde framerail. or u could even place it in the spot where the factory pump would be.

im looking to do away with my lift pump also i went to advanced auto a few months back and bought an inline diesel fuel pump that i have installed so that it is feeding the lift pump because i was having problems when the fuel tanks would get to a 1/4 tank it would shut of and be a somebitch to start again. the pump puts out 5 to 7psi is that enough to sustain the fuel the motor needs? also how can i fix the fuel problem wen it gets to a 1/4 tank, my last idi had the same problem so i kno its not just this truck

the shuting down at 1.4 tank is broken off fuel pickups. common problem. replace the sending units.

as for what u did, bypass the factory lift pump. it is a diaphram pump. the way u have it set up, if the diaphram goes bad, the electric pump will pump fuel into the crankcase.
