Question Just curious, oil filter question

I'm just wondering if an oil filter for a 7.3 PSD would work on our IDIs? I've heard they will but don't know anyone that's tried. Again, I'm just curious.

I guess the only advice i have if no one else has any idea is buy one of each filter and try the huge *** 7.3 filter then if that doesn't work at least you have the other filter handy

That's what I was thinking. I might do it then and let ya'll know cuz I'm getting close to that time anyway. Here's what happened last time I got supplies to do an oil change.

I always change the oil within a few days when I buy a truck, so I go into the parts store to get filters, oil was cheaper at the hardware store so I bought it there, but I ask for air, fuel, and oil filters for an 85 Ford F-250 6.9 diesel. The guy looks up numbers and goes in back to get the stuff. Sets the air and fuel filters on the counter and said, "I don't have an oil filter for a 6.9. I have never sold one." I said "what? I know I'm not the only one around here with a 6.9 Ford diesel." The clerk says "I ain't got one, I can order it and have it in a day or 2." I said, "Give me one for a 7.3 IDI 88-94 whatever year." Looks it up and gets me the filter. And people wonder why I refuse to go in there anymore.

Most of the people in that store are dicks anyway. No respect for the customer and they always think they're right. The other parts store in town just has idiots and you're almost guaranteed the wrong part the first time, at least. That's why I'll either order parts online or go out of town to Autozone, Checkers, or wherever.

A 7.3PSD oil filter works just fine, I run them on my 7.3IDI and my 6.9, motorcraft part number FL-1995. Due to the size of the PSD filter, you will need to add one extra quart of oil.

Thanks. You just saved me $11 bucks for my own filter. The PSD filter is a buck cheaper than the IDI filter at Autozone and Checkers.

No problem. You gotta figure the PSD filter should clean a bit better too since the PSD's use the oil to fire the injectors.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, plus an extra quart of oil can't hurt.

I heard that one of the best filters is a Luberfine. Is there any truth to that?
