could be an injector going out. how old are injectors? will it do it just idling? if so, when it is making the noise, take a 5/8th wrench and crack open 1 injector line at a time till the noise stops. this will tell u which injector it is. if it is injectors, i would replace all 8. not to expensive.

it does it idling sometimes yeah its hard to tell and when i go to test the injectors it goes away. im not sure how old the injectors are the truck has 150,000 on it and has just had the injector pump replaced by previous owner but he never said if he did injectors. sometimes i wouldnt call it a rough idle because the engine sounds smooth but it seems a little more rough than normal at times as in it shakes the truck more than usual. kinda like a gas motor with a good sized cam id say. would being on the free way then idling at a stop light cause the injector to act up? that is when it makes the knock the worst. thanks for your imput !!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

i looked at my injectors and they do have the original grey color to them and they look about the same age as the motor just looking at them. i dont really have the money to replace them is it bad if i just keep running it till i get the cash together? and if they were bought from international would they come grey or would it be very noticable that they have been changed. also i have a pic of what they look like but i cant figure out how to post it if i could get help there too haha. thanks mike

to post pics, instead of just typing the the quick reply, click on the button that says "go advanced" when you get there, you have a bunch of options above the text box. One has a capital "A" for attachment. click that. Or you can create a photobucket account, upload pics to there, and paste the image(IMG) code into the text box here.

ok cool i did pay more attention to the knock and it does it when cold at first start up for about 15 seconds and off freeway for about 30 seconds to 1minut idling and then some random times between then and sometimes at freeway speeds its very faint at freeway speeds tho.
