7.3 turbo
tried searching through some other threads but couldnt find much, ive got an 89 f250 with the 7.3 and banks turbo on it. i just recently turned up the fuel pump and noticed a good amount of difference and power off the line. but im looking to see what else can i do to get more power out of the motor but still keeping some cash in my wallet....dont want it to be a drag truck, its gunna be a tow truck.
do u have gauges on it? pyro, boost, engine temp are the three i recomend. dont trust the stock temp gauge.
max psi for boost is around 12, any more and u are just heating the air.
do not let pyro temps get about 1250-1300 if the probe is in the manifolds.
and u prety much did as much as u can without spending anything.

peak torque is made around 1600 rpm. and after 3000 rpm horsepower curves drop. only felt like more due to engine spinning over speed. i would only turn up gov IF the bottom end was balanced and i had PSD valvesprings. but no need to turn it up other than to abuse more parts.
my truck had the zf5 so wen id let the gears wind all the way to max i could run that gear a little more then normal. i noticed it when i pulled my boat (6500lbs) after i turned the gov up i could wind 1st and 2nd out more so wen i switched gears it wouldnt dog out so much. the stock crank on the 7.3l idi is ballanced up to 4000rpm. it was free to do thats y i did it.
