my 89 7.3l wont start i turn the key and the starter hardly turns.
i think its a bad starter but a mechanic said it could be batteries, which i just replaced, connections or my alternator could be locking up. need help!

 

try putting a charger on it. if no luck maybe the batteries are defective been there done that and it was no fun. if none of thoes try new starter. pepboys had one for mine 120 reman.

 

make sure it is a gear reduction starter. they work better then the stockers.


batts are new, what size and brand are they? CCA?

 

Did you get good batteries with at least 850 cca?

 

i had the same problerm but insted of buying the whole starter i took it apart and cleaned it up and replaced the starter solonoid on the starter and it works good as new for i think the solonoid was 30 to 35 bucks !!
