Okay well ive been messin with my 92 7.3 again. Got a leaking hard fuel line coming from the lift pump to the filter housing. Does anyone know where i can get one? Ive search the junk yards only to get them home and it leak too... Im sure thats whats causing it start hard and all but its a absolute dog on the road anymore and dropping milage down to about 6 or 7 mpg where i was getting around 17 or 18mpg. Doesnt have any power I got ahold of the previous owner and he had the remaned injection pump put on about 5000 miles ago from what he can remember. He put it in himself and never took it anywhere to get it timed. How much damage coulda this caused? Also how long do you think it would take a shop to time this thing assuming they have the proper tools? At over 90 bucks a hour i wanna have enough money saved up before i take it in for it to be timed?

I dont think you have to use a hard line between the lift pump and IP, the pressure isn't high enough to warrant a hard line. You can get away with using some fittings and rubber hose if you need to.

The timing probably hasn't hurt anything yet. It should only cost you 1 hour of labor to have the truck timed, that's all it cost me. Call around first to see how they will time the truck. One of the places I called told me they have the tools but prefer to time it by ear. I found a guy who had the equipment and used to own a few IDI's as well so he was familiar with everything.

Did you try Rockauto.com? They have everything sectioned out. i havent looked for hard lines but they have an engine section and a Fuel/Air section.

But u do need the hose to have the same inside diameter as the hard ins because it will mess up the fuel delivery. (quoted from the diesel shop)

Well got the new line in and it starts okay once its warm you can actually shut it off and restart it without ether. The engine starts cold but ya gotta cycle the glow plugs 2 or 3 times and crank it over about 6 or 7 revolutions then it takes off. Still too slow for me other truck doesnt even mkae a complete revolution and its fired.

Still kinda wanna play with timing some to see if that helps. Not quite may have found a complete engine and tranny out of a 89 van with 60k miles I think the e40d was available in 89. If so ill put the low miles engine and tranny in my truck bc the tranny is starting to act funny along with the engine currently in my truck.

Oh yes I have ZERO LUCK when it comes to this truck. I give up with this truck and wanna sell the f%cker and go back to driving the old rot box 88 it never gives me problems hell even starts on one battery. Ive looked at putting a International Dt360 5.9 6cyl in my 92. I seen a guy i beleive on here that stuffed one in newer powerstroke like a 2005+ which has alot less engine bay room than this body.

I think ill just drive it until i get my 79 Dodge converted to diesel. Which im pickin the engine up for it Friday... And no its not a cummins goin under the hood.
