Default Swap questions

I am trying to get my ducks in a row in preparation for swapping a 6.9L into my 76 F-150. I really would like to retain my 4speed and add Ranger O/D. I have found a motor (possibly) now I just need to locate bellhousing, and clutch info? Goal is not tire shredding power simply equal power to a 400M and ALOT better MPG. Anyone with helpful ideas or with extra parts to sell feel free to chime in.

the clutch is hydro. every diesel ford is hydro clutch.
u will need to put the master onto the 76 cab.

also talking to buddies that have had put a 6.9 in the older trucks, u will need to put a body lift on the truck to clear the bellhousing on the engine. i belive it was a 3 inch.

the trans will bolt to the factory bell and clutch on the 6.9, i have a 78 trans in my 86.

Some people have redrilled 460 bellhousings to accomodate diesel motors. I'm not that brave, but it can be done.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the tip on the Mercedes but I'm trying to stick to something more familiar. As a 19yr military mechanic I guess I should stick to 6.2Detroit. I really want to keep this as simple as possible. First choice was a 4BT but I can't seem to find a source for the adapter, or the info as to what I'm even looking for. I figure with a 6.9 or 7.3 should be mostly Ford Parts. Am I right or is there something I don't know yet?

mostly ford parts. the bell isnt to hard to find. hell if u really cant find one near u(which unsure where that is since u dont have it shown) i could pull one from a local yard and ship it to ya.

what type of adapter cant u find for the 4bt? bellhousing?

Didn't some of the ford chassis bread trucks come with a 4bt with a 4spd/ZF5spd?

not sure on that, they are scarce since most bread trucks were P-30 chevy chassis.
