wont start
I know this is going to sound like a stupid question to most of you, but I changed my fuel filter and now my truck wont start. It started for a sec. and then quickly died. Now it just turns over and over but doesnt even sound like it's trying to start. While it's turning over the fuel filter and engine temp. lights are on. The truck ran great before I changed the filter. What am i forgetting to do or what did I do wrong? This is my first diesel so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

did u fill the fuel filter? if not it is airlocked. there is a schrader valve(tire valve) located on the fuel filter head. push this in while cranking. once fuel comes out, release it and try to start. if no start, u will need to bleed air from the fuel lines. crack loose the injection lines at injectors and have somone crank it. as fuel starts to squirt out, close that line off will it starts.

It wont start because it's still pumping fuel into the filter to fill it up. You can fill the filter with more fuel, ATF, Diesel Kleen or just about any other fuel additive. Dont crank on the starter for too long or you will let the magic smoke out. Only crank for 15 seconds at a time with 2 minute intervals to let it cool off.
