F%^&ing ignition tumbler broke, new one isn't going in right..... HELP!
The tumbler in my ignition broke. (okay, I snapped it off!)
When I tried putting a new one in, I could never get it in the right position; is there a way to index the damned thing, or what? I can get it to the "run" and "off" positions, but am having to get out and bypass start it. Is there a certain position the little brass gear should be in?
I'm absentminded, and this is very dangerous. HELP!

I think the tumbler has to be in the run position so the little tab that holds it in can be pushed in correct? did you make sure the ignition switch was in the run position when you inserted the tumbler? You can either stick a screw driver into the tumbler hole and move the gear in there or take the cover off of the steering column and use a pair of pliers on the rod that connects the gear and the ignition switch( the switch is actually at the base of the steering column.) push down for run and start.
I've been using pliers to start my bronco for so long I don't remember what position the tumbler needs to be in to inserted and removed.
