Default 6.9 egts

Hey guys i am planning on turning up the pump on my 86 ford f 250 6.9 litre non turbo diesel and was wondering when i need to start watching my pyrometer gauge im thinkin like 12-13? what do you guys say?

1250 is the highest you want to go on a 6.9 and still be safe.

Where is your temp probe mounted, that will also play a small part in your guage readings. The further from the head the probe is, the more safety room you will have to give yourself.

I have to put the pyrometer in still sorry ha ha i worded that wrong....
