Default funky fuel guage

thanks to all for reading this, any help would be much appreciated
so when i switch to the front tank 1990 f250 7.3, the guage goes to empty even when full, when its down enough for the float to move and i hammer down the gauge climbs and the fuel goes to back of tank but once it settles it goes back to e any ideas before i pull my hair out
thanks again for any help

I have a problem similar to that on my 90 ford gasser. My rear tank reads fine though its my front. It transfers the fuel from the front tank to the rear even when the rear tank is completly full sometimes the gas drips out the rear tank, my problem is the sock in my front tank is bad. But my idea for you is either the float in the tank is bad or you have bad connection the gauge panel but im not sure

My fuel gauges are just retarded; when they start to show something other than completely full, I'm about outta fuel.
