1990 IDI what to do with it?
alright guys i think i may be getting a 1990 5 speed IDI in on a trade. i kinda want to mess with her for a little learn about it for a while then sell her. so guys what is there to look out for on theese, what not to do and what to do? i have my truck in my sig and i have learned a whole bunch and now can tell ya what everything does inside the pump and all that junk. so just switchin to something else to fix up and sell. well the truck is a extended cab long bed 5 speed with a very tight clutch and runs pretty good. its 2 wheel drive so thats why i dont plan on keeping her for a while but while i have it just wanna play. so guys what do you think?

oh and it is the 7.3l and the first thing that im going to do is a pyro which is half way on alreadyl. the sender is there just havent put the gauge in yet. so on these what is the temp to stay away from? like cummins says they can run at 1250 all day. and bring em up to 1400 for a sec or two. i always kept mine below 1300

on the 7.3 liters, they are known for cavitation issues. make sure the previous owner used sca additive in the coolant if you can.
there are turbo kits and even long tube headers for them also.
i love IDI
as for the pyro, dont stay at 1250 for long. these are very picky to high heat since compression is around 20 to 1
