I found a transmission i want to put in my 87 f250 6.9. It is a 87 borg warner 4 speed out of a f -250 gas burner. Would it be the same?

 

If its from the 460 Yes its the very same Transmission. Be sure to keep the drive shaft.

 

Look at the top of the tranny where the shifter comes out of the case and look at the numbers there, you have 2 choices, the T-19(which was put in diesels) and the T-18 which was behind gassers. The t-19 has a synchronized 1st gear, and IIRC the T-18 has a much lower fisrt gear, many people like the T-18 because the granny lowis good for wheeling or crawling
