It would take some work and fabing to keep everything. Thats why I'm waiting to measure everything. Might build our own headers.

I have two of them one is an88 f250 4x4 with 382k mls and the other is an 84 E-350 centurion conversion (half p-up half van). The 88 has a stock 7.3 5 spd and the 84 has a 6.9 with ats turbo set at 17 lbs and a 7.3 pump and injectors with a c-6. I get about 20mpg with the 88 without camper and I get about 13 mpg in the 84

Open up the intake, and exhaust. Since your not turbo'ing it, dont straight pipe it, it would be to loud (straight pipe big block gasser loud). Put in a pyro. Then turn the fuel up a flat or two, (1/4 max, I would start at 1/8 turn myself. I dont think a N/A IDI can go much past 1/4 turn without getting into EGT troubles).

Probably pretty dang hard, dont know what kind of flange the holset uses, but the turbo's made for IDI's use a Garret T3/T4 turbo, and even then, they have to have a custom manifold per each turbo company, where each exhaust manifold comes together and goes up to the turbo. You would have to be pretty good at fabricating things.

My Dad bought a 1991 F-Superduty that didn't run. It had the complete Banks kit on it. (turbo and all) The previous owners ran the egt. to hot for to long. Needless to say one of the pistons had a crack/hole I could stick my finger in and this was the second engine in the truck. The truck is still under 100,000 miles. He found another SD and bought it for the engine and trans. The tear down revealed a Jasper rebuilt engine (6.9L) and a rebuilt 5sp.
transmission. So now a 6.9L resides between the fenders. With the Banks kit and 5.13 gears in the back it gets a whopping 10 miles per gallon. It isn't fast, but it will pull.
I stright piped it and then one of his friends said it sounded like a big block chevy?

So cowboy, I have question for you. I have `84 6.9 liter IDI. And I was wondering if I put a better air intake, bigger injectors, 3 or 4 inch straight pipe and turned the fuel pump up maybe a quarter of a turn, how much more power would that be?

Vince`s `84 6.9 liter two door, long bed, bone stock diesel..............for now
