What should I do to get a little more power? Ive heard these were awesome setups because it has the mechanical injection with a factory turbo.... I just bought the truck and it has some awesome power. Its a f-250 4x4 with a 5 speed and im going to run straight 4" into 5" stacks for exhaust. What are some ideas for intake and turning these things up a little? Im not real familiar with the mechanial 7.3s so I dont even know where to start. It has 211k on the clock so I dont wanna go too far. I just wanna turn it up a little with the exhaust and put a good intake setup on it.

Alrighty I just wanted to make sure that still applies to my turbo setup. Now then, what is there to do with these trucks to build up a little more boost to go along with the fuel and exhaust?

You better invest in a pyrometer/gauge before you crank up the rail pressure. 1,200 is nuclear melt down, 1,000 is seriously pushin it. I've got a Banks sidewinder going from a 3" dp to a 4" adapter, to a 5" straight pipe- all the way to the rear end. I have no muffler, and the pump is turned all the way up. Even with pulling my 20' car hauler loaded, I don't ever go above 800 degrees. No back pressure= no high egt's

would it really be worth the money to step it up to 5" with an adapter or just stick with 4"?? Im going to eventually run my stacks when I get the extra cash but for now I was just going to leave it a straight pipe underneath....

And on another note, I was reain one article about turnin up the pump on these trucks and it said theres also another screw you can adjust to keep basically the same "fuel curve" after you turn up the pump. Right now I turned the pump all the way up and backed off the screw a little so nothing breaks and it runs pretty dang good. Now its off to the exhaust shop to get some tubing done Pretty much everybody I talk to though is trying to talk me into buying the ATS upgrade kit for the turbo because it comes with a downpipe and everything but I just cant see spendin around $600 for a little more power..... is it really WORTH it?

Also does anybody know how to tweak the wastegate rod to achieve a little more boost? Ive read about guyin playin with the rod to get close to 10psi of boost but I wanna know for sure how to do it!!

the factory turbos are ats design but the rear turbo housing and down pipe are choked way down. you can goto ats to get the 3" housing and down pipe. you can also get a better turbo housing from them too. i did this to mine and it built boost quicker and up to 12lbs. also if you dont run real hard just disconnect and plug the waste gate line and you will build boost alot faster. i never saw over 14-15psi. these engines dont benefit from boost much over 12-14psi and that level head gaskets are questionable. without major upgrades. the other fuel screw is on turbo pumps only and is at the back and top side just in frt on inj lines. it adjusts fueling on the lower end basically it was installed to reduce smoke untill boost pressure was assumed. you loosen this screw instead of tightening the other one.
