For $1000 a turbo is out of your price range. I bought a used turbo, and after the exhaust, and gauges, I was in it about $1500.

I would defniatly do gauges. Pyro, of course. If your truck is an auto...a trans temp gauge. A water temp gauge, and maybe a oil pressure gauge (the stock ones suck).

If your truck is an auto, then a tranny cooler as well...to keep that thing nice and cool (increases the life of the tranny).

Rig up a custom intake. Then either build, or buy an exhaust. Then turn up that pump.

Man, that's discouraging huh? Well I aint the brightest but here's what I'm doin. 92' IDI crewcab dually? - $1500 (w/6brand new tires) Old ATS turbo on Craigs List? - $150 Turn up the pump? - $0 2 new GP's? - $19.98 Some exhaust tubing and a lot of elbow grease mounting turbo? - $150 Hauling my buddy's broke-down 04' stroke on a 40' gooseneck listening to him go on about Chips, and down-loads, and exhaust? PRICELESS!

for an idi i would definatly get gauges, turn up the pump, you can find out how to do so here
if you can find a used turbo setup for cheap then do that, if not dont worry about it, do the soupbowl mod and free up the exhaust
