gotta big problem which has led me to this forum.

i have a 1992 7.3l manual trans. and im on a big trip right now, pulling a trailer.
all of a sudden when im under load (heavey acceleration or uphill while pulling the trailer) I loose almost all power and the truck starts billowing out black and white smoke.
not a lot at first but it got pretty bad to the point where we couldnt see the car behind us.

once we slow down, the smoke calms down. if we stay in 4th gear it seems fine, but have trouble gettin into 5th.

any ideas?
we are stranded until we fix it.
im concerned its the IP or bad compression?
is there a simple way to test the injection pump or injectors without takin it to a shop?
