Transfer tank
Truck is a 83 4x4 F250 front tank only.
I have an idea to mount a transfer tank. I will run a fuel line from the drain port with a safety valve. To a 3 way valve so i can select either my main tank or the transfer. The good thing is the return line is still my main tank so i will be filling it back up.
I wanted to install rear tank but my truck doesn't have one from the factory and with the sending units hard to come buy, having to install a filler neck and door, along with the rest of the mounting.
Any reason this will not work?

If the transfer tank is above the main tank and connected with a TEE fuel could gravity down to the main tank and overfill the main tank?
Also if you fill both tanks up and you are running on the transfer tank wouldn't the return fuel gradually fill the all ready fuel main tank?

I don't really like the idea of a tee into my filler neck. I know allot of people have and like them but it seems like a accident waiting to happen. By using my main tank until about 1/4 tank remains then switching to my aux i will not only run my truck but also refill my main tank. I just need to remember to keep an eye on my gauge and switch back to my main tank. I'm running a Holley red so it should refill pretty quickly.
Also it will only require a on/off valve (mounted on the transfer tank), fuel line, and a 3 way mechanical valve. No added vent lines or cutting into my filler neck.
