I see a lot of people have this problem... BUT, I want to post my own thread so I can ask questions as we go... I have a 93 7.3 IDI one ton, 2WD. I will explain what I have done...

So, I replaced the FSS because when I finally found where it actually was, it was cracked and broken so bad that I could see copper. Now, before I replaced the FSS, something would click. I think it was the glow plug relay... Not sure, but it was cold before I replaced it. After I replaced it, my next issue was... I blew the start maxi fuse AND that clicking went away... Not sure what I did but it will click once... I'm assuming that's the glow plug relay and for some reason I don't blow that fuse anymore... WELLLLL.... I discovered a plastic key looking thing that had some numbers on it... SO, I tore my dash apart and started following wires... I found this thing called a "Audio Vox". I did some research on it and it's a security system... on a 93... not sure why... but... ya know... whatever... BUT, I have no idea how to unhook this thing where I don't screw it up... Honestly, I want it gone... Does anyone know anything about Audio Vox?!

Between replacing the FSS and the Audio Vox, I did mess quite a bit with the IP. Now, I get fuel to the IP and fuel leave the IP... If this AV is not the issue I am having... COULD the IP be bad and not be putting out enough PSI to the injectors? Is there an easy way to test this?

I will appreciate all the help I can get! I have asked several of my mechanic friends and I do understand that it is hard to diagnose without being able to see it... But if you are super good at explaining stuff to dumbfounded people... I would love all the help I can get! Thank you!! =)

 

OK I think I know where to go with this, the audiovox thing is a power inturupter from a security ststem.. that being said , what you will need to do it take your time( step one ) .. I too have multiple electrical issues with my 87 ..

Your going to need to get a wiring diagram , then you will need to go wire for wire and find out where its inturupting power ( most likley its killing the power to the fuel solenoid to the injection pump ( the thing that delivers fuel to each cylinder ) ... if you know what the IP is and which post is supposed to have power you may be able to short cut the wiring ... if no power at the shut down solenoid , theres the issue... if its powered there could be more going on here .. if possible take some pics and start an account on photobook and then copy the link to your thread here ...
