1990 F350 stopped starting
Hi
My very first post
My very first diesel
My very first day
And
My very first day being stranded at the grocery store.
(Got a ride home from a nice couple)
First, driving the truck home the water/fuel filter started to leak fuel all over the hwy. pulled off tightened it... All was well. Got home rested awhile and decided to go out of dinner. On our way home we stopped at the grocery store and it decided to not start.
There was power from the batteries, radio, electric windows, dash lights worked.
When I tried to turn it over it didn't make a sound except a slight tick....tick....tick, when I tried to start it.
Temp was about 85 F today. Had to leave it over night.
Any ideas what I should check for tomorrow? We will try to jump start it, but even if that works, what could be wrong?
Thanks! Heidi

Starters are prone to issues with these older engines .... High compression, unlike a Cummins, the International has 21.5 , vs Cummins 17:1 compression.... Higher cylinder pressure takes a bit of power to turn over ....
check that your remote starter solenoid on the passengers side fender well, it could be faulty as well... Start cheep and work your way up ... Check battery connections, starter connections .... All the "Obvious" stuff ...
do keep us posted. .. Lotts of experience here .. From us all

Ah, yes a neutral safty switch can play games too .... the small thing that the mai power cable is attatched to on the starter is the starter solenoid ... the Remote solenoid is on the pass. fender ....
neutral safty switch ( if its an automatic ) should be near the shifting lever on the drivers side of trans ..
