will the engine sustain 3000 rpm free speed ? ... let it warm up andthen rail it and see if it sputters ...
Also .. Ditch he freeking bowl on your fuel filter ... Baldwin filter # bf1222 ... it will interchange with napa, car quest, and wix #'s ...

ive done it man im running out of ideas. i know the ignition is fucked up so im going to redo the ignition wiring harness hopefully it does the trick ..... and its funny how you say switch to baldwin fuel filter did that the week i bought the truck. But ik i need to redo the piston and rings cause at and idle its making way to much crank pressure but me and my paw are both diesel technicians and were are bamboozled about it so im thinking of redoing the motor and i might just put a good ole 5.9 12 valve mechanical and do the 24 industrial head change, but ill keep you guys posted on what i find and/or do

by shutting itself off do you mean like literally shutting itself down or like just skipping a beat every now and again because one of the ids we got running off of a cloth soaked in gas and the faith of God, would idle fine but had a deathly toxic blue smoke and when u went to drive it it was crazy fast (by that i mean fast for an idi) but every now and then it would shake and shimmy we replaced the ip and injectors and ran diesel 911 threw it and she runs like a top! just a little comer and and little slower

You may also have a few rings that are stuck ... This happens on diesels all the time .... Its caused from excessive idling and or sitting for long periods of time not running .... The cure ... If you can keep it running ... Go add one gallon of fresh ATF to tue tank and drive the **** out of it .... Or pull something good and heavy.... Big hills empty load the junk out of it ... This will kick out the varnish that's got a ring stuck .... May take a while but it does work well ....

I pulled an Wxcusrion diesel 70miles .... The last 5 it really woke up finally ... And after that 18-19mpg all day long ....

oh and I did my HG .... I Seriously recomend pulling engine out to do this .... Check out my build .... Not having any fun ... Wish I could bring it to work and lust yank it out ...

a 12v swap is nice but there's a bit more than just slamming a Cummins in it .... And the dodge transmissions are under built and then there's the drive shafts that would need to be special length.... Etc ... I thought about stripping my 2500 and doing a 12v swap too .... Too much damn work ...

projectidi by what i mean is when your driving around town its fine if you go about 55 and higher it litteraly bucks like your turning the truck off and on. 4x4manonbroke it gets about 20 22 around town its good on fuel just this problem is pissing me off cause im back to driving my 94 ford ranger 4cyl and i miss my idi but now that piece of **** ranger is starting to duck up so im hoping to get the 12 v in in the next 2 weeks and yeah its time consuming but a budy of my dads thats all he does he specializes in doing engine swaps in trucks
